Painted in 1989, Kali’s Tunel is a rare and visionary work from Juan Antonio Guirado’s late period, combining oil and collage in an extraordinary exploration of transcendence and rebirth. One of only four known collage works by the artist, all held within the Guirado Estate Foundation, it represents a pivotal moment of experimentation where material texture meets spiritual depth.
The painting was exhibited in the 2015 retrospective Rebirth – The Third Eye in Madrid and later became the portal image for the 2017 immersive VR experience ReBirth by FLOAT, in which viewers entered Guirado’s cosmic tunnel before emerging into a celestial realm of light. This dual legacy — both as a physical artwork and a digital gateway — makes Kali’s Tunel one of the most sought-after pieces in the Estate collection.
