A rare and expressive acrylic landscape from Juan Antonio Guirado’s late-period Landscapes series, Alegrías bursts with energetic colour and texture. Painted in sweeping, gestural strokes, the piece evokes the vitality of the Andalusian terrain — but filtered through Guirado’s emotional abstraction and painterly intuition.

Unlike his more meditative Intra-Realist works, this piece dances with movement and light. Flecks of vibrant orange, cobalt, and chartreuse swirl across the canvas, capturing both the raw materiality of nature and the emotional pulse of the land. The title, Alegrías — meaning “joys” in Spanish — feels apt for this luminous and layered composition.

Though undated, the energy, scale, and colouration suggest a confident work from Guirado’s later years, and one that offers a unique window into his landscape studies on paper.
